Thursday 6th March.
It would have been our 54th Wedding Anniversary today. So many happy years together, which I’m trying to dwell on, instead of thinking of the lonely years ahead without John. What am I talking about, I’m anything but lonely, but I just miss him so much.
Well, what’s been happening. Helen was at London last week visiting Rory and Ian and had a good time. She also visited Ian’s mother, who lives in a pretty village like the ones in “Midsomer Murders”. Brought me back something from the Tate - a model wooden hand which the bairns have been enjoying trying to draw, as they can move the fingers around. Forgot to mention Stephen came last Friday and made my meal. Salmon with parsley sauce with new baby potatoes and vegetables. I really enjoy his visits..He cleared up, washed the dishes and everything, just like his grandpa used to do, bless him.
Monday, Chris came to take me to hers for lunch and on the way, went to Shona’s wee shop at Port Seton and bought another photo album and a baby card. She has some lovely stuff. Then went to Lavender’s Blue at Longniddry, which is very expensive, but interesting. Some unusual antiques.
Tuesday, Helen took me to ENT to collect my new hearing aid. What a difference with a digital one! Everything is so clear and there’s even a button to shut out background noise! It’s much neater too and it’s grey -to match my hair!. Good Old NHS!.
Went to look for trainers on way home, but couldn’t find any that fitted properly. Bought some food in Marks (quite extravagant, but very tasty). Must try to lose weight as my back and legs are very sore, but have to keep moving.
Wednesday, Margaret came in morning, then Rita in afternoon. She was saying Alex is missing their wee dog terribly, as he was so used to taking him for walks.
I have a bit of a cold today, which is unusual for me. Was going a wee walk along to Dick’s but thought I’d better stay in. My friend Isabel is coming this afternoon, so I’m looking forward to that as we have a lot of common interests.
What a nice surprise! Isabel brought me lovely blue irises and golden carnations as a thank you for finding some vintage music for her.
