Saturday, 5th July
Bonnie blackbird in the garden, this morning, then the starlings arrived. Don’t know where all the blackbirds are this year. Tidied garden a wee bit, then did some hand washing. but of course the rain came on. Jean round in afternoon.
Thought I’d better look out old photos, family records etc. My second cousin’s daughter, Helen (is that my 3rd cousin?) now lives in Edinburgh and is researching the family tree, so wants to come down for an afternoon to see if I can fill in some blanks. Should be interesting. When I first retired I did a search of John’s mum’s family and traced back quite far. Started doing my side of the family, but found it very time consuming.
Friday, 4th July
Nan really enjoyed her surprise lunch, as did the rest of us. Her face lit up when she saw everyone. The food was lovely and there was a cake, balloons and so on. She is so frail. I don’t know what I moan about when I see her. Wanted me to come in to see Davie on the way home and also to see all the lovely flowers. She was especially proud of the bouquet from Stephen and his girl friend Margo. Went a walk along the back road. Doubt I’ll have to start using a stick!!! Had a blether with Nettie and a cuppa.
Thursday,3rd July
Stephen phoned. He’d been in touch with his dad and mum in Cyprus. Nan doesn’t have a dvd player. Offered to get me something from John Lewis, but I managed to get nice perfume from the chemist. Shopped today instead of Friday, as six of us are taking Nan to the Dragon Way at the Cuthill for lunch for her birthday tomorrow.
Wednesday, 2nd July.
Felt a bit better, but still a bit stiff. Helen came in morning Talking about Bruges again. Quite difficult to get booked. Think there’s a rush as the crossing finishes in September. Stephen came along on his scooter. He’s managed to get it going again. Going to get me a DVD of “Atonement” to give to his granny Nan for her 80th birthday on Friday.
