Peacocks and butterflies

Sunday 21st September

Not a good day yesterday, health wise, but feeling much better this morning, so decided to make the effort and go to church. Haven’t been for ages, what with being away, having visitors, not feeling well etc. Felt better afterwards both physically and emotionally, Think maybe I've been feeling the way I do, is partly because it will soon be the anniversary of John’s death.Thought of him when saw a few Peacock butterflies in garden this morning and two Red Admirals.

Felt even better when Margo and the bairns arrived.Sitting in the back porch, reading the paper, when Jonathan came in from the front door. I hadn’t unlocked the back gate and Margo thought I wasn’t home yet.Jonathan seems to get taller every week and it's great being able to talk about school at his level. In geography his class is studying coal mining at the moment and they may be doing field trips,so hope thay come down this way.Keir was showing me the notes he's keeping for the Nature watch in the Scotsman.

Ailie was very excited,as she’s been asked to be a bridesmaid at her cousin William’s wedding next year-IN Canada! I was telling her it’s an honour to be asked, but of course Margo said John is worrying about the cost,as they’re all going to another wedding a month later when John is to be best man! There will be a big tightening of belts in the Falconer household from now on I’m sure. Just finished watching Tess. Perhaps knowing what lies ahead of her just seems to make me pity her even more somehow.I know it's just a story!
