Sitting in the Sunshine

Monday, 22nd September

What a glorious morning.Sunny and peaceful and it continued all day! Up early to make the most of it and prepared some food for the birds.Still wearing my dressing gown took my cup of tea and sat in our seat beside the hut.First visitor was a robin alighting on the apple tree, followed by two blackbirds, then some sparrows pecking on the ground.I could have sat there all morning!
However, things to do, people to see, washing to do and hang out in the sunshine!I love the fresh smell of the clothes when they’ve been dried outdoors, though I also love my tumbler drier when it’s raining! Jim the gardener arrived to cut the grass, so had to hang the clothes out later.Lovely smell of newly cut grass now.I’m getting fair poetic here, better move on.
Wrote some letters, then started printing some of John’s cards to sell at the Church for Christmas.I remember he was so proud when I first did that and they’ve always proved very popular, many people buying them to put the paintings in wee frames. Spoiled one or two at first, but soon got the hang of it.
Arthur phoned on lunch break for a wee chat, then Margo phoned later.I realised I’d forgotten to give Keir his birthday when they were down, but she said she’ll be coming before that anyway.
Later walked along the back road to Dick and Joyce's and Nettie's.Coming back later heard some young voices and stopped to watch Preston Lodge doing rugby training over the home. They seemed to be really enjoying it, though I was reading in the paper that there were concerns about the injuries that can be caused by playing rugby.I suppose there are risks in any sport.
Jean phoned when I came back, then Ray’s sister, Helen about the Quiz. Maybe it's because I'm a bit tired, but I’m getting a bit fed up with it now and really think we should just stick with the answers we have. After all we’re not really fussy about winning anyway. What would we do with ten thousand pounds worth of books at our age? Anyway, I said I would double check two of them tomorrow.Neither Rae or Helen have computers, so what we do first is try to find the answers through our general knowledge, then look through the relevant books we have, or can get from the library, then a week before it’s to be sent away,I look on the internet.Next year I think I’ll cheat a bit and just go on the internet right away! I’d better stop grumbling!
Anyway dumbed down a bit watching Corrie while getting on with my knitting then prepared for bed.
