Visiting and Visitors

Wednesday, 3rd September.

3rd September1939 “The Day War Broke Out”. was the name of a monologue someone used to do on the radio.(Rob Wilton)I think. Very funny for such a serious subject, but all those things kept up morale.Loads of washing, as I’ve been letting it mount up. Glad I did,as managed to get all the towels hung out before the rain came on. I’m hardly using the tumble tryer at all now. Think I'm getting a halo! Doctor phoned to discuss medication. Wants to see me next week.

Rita here in afternoon as usual. Delighted to hear Alex got the report from the hospital saying he’s able to drive again. Stuart came round to put out recycling boxes. Lovely to see him and hear all his news. He’s working at Musselburgh Grammar at the moment. Phoned Margo, as I know she’s going out to the Churchill theatre with Aile to see an amateur production of a musical called Romeo and Juliet” Aile is very excited and getting all dolled up!

I’m looking forward to “Lost in Austen” tonight!

Tuesday, 2nd September.

Sunshine all day again. Visited Isobel at South View. Find turn of brae at top very difficult now (oh these old bones!),but tried different route which was a bit better. It’s funny, even though the roads are paralell, one is steeper at one point than the other. Fine coming down.though.Met quite a few folk I hadn’t seen for ages.

Good blether with Isabel. Lovely Pictures of her daughter’s wedding down South. Also photos of other daughter’s house in France, an old barn, converted. Fascinating looking at pictures of original, then the work in progress. Remembered when John and I were in France about twenty years ago, we thought about buying a holiday home in Brittany. Wish we had now.The whole family could have benefited. Isobel is going there in October. Her daughters are twins like mine. Same age too.

Back home, got shredder out to sort out my filing, Couldn’t bring myself to shred our old letters yet though. Wee salad for tea. Lilian came down later as I’d phoned to ask how Ian was after his op.Arthur came when she was going out.Made me a cup of tea.Telling me about all the people who were at the birthday party on Saturday in the Goth. Good time was had by all by the sound of it! Watched River City later.Honestly I think it’s the best soap on the box at the moment and the episode last night was a cracker.
