Harvest Moon

Wednesday 2nd October

Another beautiful day yesterday. Birds here first thing, but noise from workmen scared them away. Helen arrived for lunch. Brought photos of me at the British Museum. Also black and white ones of Rory and Iain. I remember John used to develop and print his own photos when we were young. He made the enlarger out of his Mum’s old chip pan! Used to take me into the darkroom to help him!!!!!!

Met Julie on way to Tranent. Talking about Callum doing so well in the half Marathon. Bobby showed me photos of him at day centre with her and Fiona. Must go round there some time. It's just that it reminds me so much of John playing his "box" there

Really enjoyed listening to Michael Ondaatje and discussion afterwards.Louise managed to get parked right at door. Last time I was at Queen’s Hall was when I was still working. The speaker then was one of my favourite poets, Seamus Heaney

.On way home couldn’t believe it when we saw the harvest moon. Beautiful golden colour like the ones in fairy stories. Very low in sky, so we went down the coast road to Port Seton to get a better view. Giggling and laughing at ourselves “chasing the moon!”

Not so nice weatherwise today. Margaret arrived. told me Andrew Muir had died. A great character. Businessman, Piper, Soldier -a true Panner, who did a lot for Prestonpans all his life. Chris phoned-Tom Greenlaw not so well. Rita here in afternoon, brought some of her lovely sewing to show me. Helen called in. Telling us she’s buying a caravan! Bobby phoned. He’s arranged for Craig to come with him to move bedroom furniture on Friday evening . Arthur, Margo, Kay phoned later.
