Paintings

Saturday. 13th October

Weather not so nice. Phoned Rita. We had been going to Joyce’s, but she is just coming here as Dick phoned to see Laura and Alex are coming to take them out for a meal. Still no sign of Dillon.

Rita brought her latest painting. A different style. It’s something like the Hornel I have in the sitting room with the girls merging into the landscape. I had a similar one by McTaggart before, which I really liked better. The one I had was of poor bairns by the side of a burn. In contrast I had two Victorian type paintings on either side of the Mactaggart.I know I’m very sentimental.

Surprise visit by Kay and the boys. It was great to see them. Robert raiding the cupboards for goodies of course. Although I’d bought loads of fruit, they prefer the chocolate biccies when they're here.Douglas made our cup of tea. I was worried about him handling the kettle, but Kay said he would be fine and so he was as he was very careful. Rita remarked on his nice manners.
